Eklunden was laid out as an extended school yard when the new Svealund School began to be built. The heart of Eklunden is an edible lecotope, so one nature-based playscape with many edible plants. On a surface of around 2000 m2, some 600 trees and bushes have been planted, almost all of which are edible. There are numerous hazel bushes (Corylus avellana), Korean silver bushes (Elaeagnus umbellata) and sea buckthorn (Hippophae rhamnoides). Among the trees, walnut stands out (Juglans regia), quince (Cydonia oblonga) and various other fruit trees that are scattered within the park. At the facility, excavated material from other projects on the municipality's land was used to build the landscape. The masses were topped with planting soil and a 5 cm thick layer of semi-decomposed leaf compost which in turn was covered with a degradable ground cloth and wood chips. The ground layer was established afterwards and is dominated by the smultron (Fragaria vesca) and strawberry raspberry (Rubus illecebrosus). The new plantings were initially protected by low chestnut fences, which were removed in the fall 2025.
Peter Korn has planted trees and bushes in the beds around the edible playhouse (many of which are edible) in beds that are topped with pure natural sand.
