The knowledge park's forest garden, Lund
Project owner: Lund municipality
Principal: Tyrann's
Design vegetation: Philip Weiss
Start year: 2019
Surface: 1300 kvm
The Knowledge Park's forest garden is nestled in the heart of the Knowledge Park in the northern part of Lund, in the Brunnshög district. The forest tree canopy was designed 2019 and began to be constructed 2022. The forest garden is divided into a series of sub-areas that draw inspiration from different geographical areas, for example North America with asimina (Asimina triloba) cardiac walnut (Juglans ailanthifolia var. cordifotmis) and American persimmon (Diospyros virginiana). Much focus is on the soil layer that was planted directly. At the facility, degradable ground cloth and wood chips were used to facilitate establishment and reduce evaporation and weed problems. A plank protects against the almost uninterrupted wind from the west.
The forest garden is used in educational activities by the Nature School in Lund and is used by the colony growers in the Knowledge Park.
