Courses in forest horticulture 2017

Next year we organize two courses in forest horticulture. The first will be held on a yard outside Gårdsjö in Tiveden already in mid-May, starting on Friday evening 12 May and closed in the afternoon on Sunday 14 May. On this course, the practical work primarily focusing on soil preparation, establishment techniques and planting of trees- and shrub layer. Örtskiktet, polykulturdesign, biodiversity and basic propagation techniques are topics we address in the theoretical sessions. Do you want to know more? The second course, we here in Stjärnsund area. We will combine theory and practical sessions from mid-morning Friday 16 June to Sunday afternoon 18 June. During the practical parts, we will continue to work with two of the existing forest garden projects. I Putt Myra Forest Garden we will build a brand new bed in a rather dry slope where we will plant the plants Manchurian apricot, various hybrid chestnuts, Rowan hybrids and various berry bushes. The Diversity Garden in Stjärnsund we after a thorough review of polykulturdesign to complement existing plantings of trees and shrubs with an exciting and functional örtkskikt. The practical parts are supplemented with various theoretical workouts on everything from how to find a good place for a timber garden, scarification techniques and biodiversity maintenance and propagation techniques.
