This year's plant list, I once worked with half a year from and to, and I begin to realize that it will never be completely finished, so it's better to let the current version.
In document is available to download here I have compiled a list of the plants we grow in Putt Myra forest garden and in our home garden in Hälsingbo, both located outside Stjärnsund in southern Dalarna. Both sites are located on the border between cultivation zone IV and V according to the Swedish zone map, but Hälsingbo has an exceptionally favorable microclimate where we can grow plants that would otherwise be considered hardy in cultivation zone III.

The document is divided into several tabs: In the tab Woody lists all woody plants we grow and some of their characteristics listed. All plants are sorted by their botanical names and common names is given in several languages to make it easier to find the right plant for the European market. Resistance from the literature indicated that to the extent known, both under the American system (USDA) and the Swedish system,. Column “Potting” provides information on how long the plant has fared in each habitat. Column “The resulting” indicates where we have received from the plant and has nothing to do with the actual provenance in the botanical sense to do. Column “Where?” shows if the plants are grown in the open Putt Myra forest garden, in the garden of Hälsingbo with its favorable micro-climate, or in the large greenhouse in Putt Myra woodland garden where we have planted a number of trees and shrubs that are not hardy here in the open.

Tab Herbaceous lists most herbs we grow. This is given less information about each plant than in the tab “Woody”.
By Underlined Plant name indicates plants that we have tried, but that has not fared. I kolumnen “Note” there are, in some cases, information on why the plant was paid.
Tab Schemes shows the devices in the plant kingdom is represented in our farms. Each species belongs to a genus, which in turn belong to a family. Each family belongs to the order. In the forest gardening, the aim is to get a high diversity also order level, to spread the risk and prevent the spread of disease.
Tab Remarks lists footnotes present in the other tabs.
In the tab Literature I have compiled the literature I used to make plant lists.
Note that this plant list is not complete yet. The lack of information on many plants in regard of lighting conditions, drought tolerance or type of root system. All additions are highly appreciated! If you want to add information, Observe your changes with any color and send this document back to me philipp@ihop.nu. Many thanks for your help!

Troubled good information! You really do pioneering work there in Dalarna.
bye Bye!
Many thanks for the best information to date about the edible perennials in northern zones!
Philipp, how do you think about shifting up the value of the important testing work you do? Especially when it comes to harvest amounts, Combine stability (annual variation), and the need of labor input per harvested amount, there is of course much needs to be tested and documented, especially when moving around in zones 4-5. Even aspect on which plants would best fill it out as annual plants, or animal systems, can not cover up locally, is important. You should perhaps against a certain compensation offer to send test packets with a selection of interesting plants to a trusted panel of your followers?? Almost like “disciples”, that stands on its own funding in exchange for the joy of not only pass — but also to expand — his master's knowledge.
Greetings
Jan
Hi Jan!
Thanks for the nice feedback! There is actually a research project at Örebro University who has little same direction that I think you're on. There has been erected twelve or thirteen similar woodland gardens across the country. It says little about the project here: http://www.oru.se/Forskning/Forskningsmiljoer/miljo/ENT/MTM/Forskningsprojekt/Las-mera/Hallbar-livsmedelsproduktion-i-Sverige—to-grow-and-eat-from-perennial systems / Forest tree farms / and here: http://www.oru.se/PageFiles/71930/Artikel%20Skogen.pdf.
For my own part, the course work, a way to get out this way of thinking in the country. This weekend we will establish a new woodland garden in Järbo in Zone V. In the long term we should definitely spend a little to make an evaluation of what has happened to all the gardens I have been on and created, Fortunately, it seems the be little research money to search for such.
Greetings
Philipp
