Perennial vegetables (sometimes called the edible perennials or perennial vegetables) has been a recurring theme on this blog. Most readers will know that we have also made Game of perennial vegetables which came out just over a year ago. Many who have played the game have heard of and wondered if we could not write a book in Swedish about the topic also. Certainly, there is good books in English if perennial vegetables, but they do not usually regard to our climatic conditions in Sweden.
Therefore decided Annevi Sjöberg, Daniel Larsson and I decided a while ago to write the requested book about perennial vegetables for Swedish conditions in Swedish. We will publish the book on their own without a publisher who takes care of the printing and distribution of books. How to book will become a reality, we need your help to raise money for the printing of the first edition and has launched a crowdfunding campaign with very favorable rewards for those who want to support us! There are five different levels of contributions in the campaign. With a contribution of 250 kr you an author-signed copies of the book as soon as we have received from the printing works. For 1000 kr you get a hand-signed book sent to your home, your name written in the book that thanks, our game on perennial vegetables and you are most welcome on a guided tour of our plantations of perennial vegetables in Stjärnsund the 18 June 2016 with the opportunity to meet others interested in plants. Perhaps it will be this year's Christmas gift 2016 for anyone interested in growing near and dear?
The book will contain 60 plant portraits from Allium Cernuum (Allium cernuum) to ärtvicker (Vicia pisiformis) with information about their specific characteristics and growing advice, how they propagated and culinary uses they have. In addition, there will be a lot of background information on perennial vegetables in general and especially a detailed chapter on how to actually grow them, something we have lacked in the popular British and American books. It all seasoned with a number of recipes for dishes that have perennial vegetables as the main ingredient. The annex will among others. be tables of all plant properties, nutritional content of certain of them, and a list of nurseries and seed companies offering multi vegetables to end customers.
The manuscript of the book is basically finished and will soon be sent to some of the most knowledgeable growers of perennial vegetables in Scandinavia for feedback. Since remains edits and an awful lot of layout work before the book comes out in late April 2016, in time for the Garden Fair in Stockholm.
That said, it is only with your support that we will be able to publish the book, so please help us by already pre-order the book for 250kr (incl. shipping) or otherwise contribute to our kampanj!

I would like to support your initiative to write and print the book of perennial vegetables. I was therefore time to pay 250 SEK for the book but I gave up when I came to the page for payment. It does not feel safe when you have to provide their card number. Have you no giro or bank transfer? so I can pay via online banking.

The book will come out in mid-April if all goes according to plan. Great fun that you want to sell it in your store! Probably the price will be between 200 and 250 kr, but it depends on the final price we get from the printing. If you want to support the project, you can deposit any amount at BG 874-8493.
